Studies of n-type and p-type material oxides for fabrication of thermoelectric devices
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.
Studies of n-type and p-type metal oxide compounds for thermoelectric device fabrication by performing a comparative study between semiconductor oxides and Metal Oxides/Ceramics for increasing the figure of merit of thermoelectric materials with reduced toxicity and more stability over a wide range of temperatures. I was exposed to various techniques like preparing samples using stoichiometric methods, Vacuum hot press, ball milling and analysing these samples using X-Ray diffraction, 4-probe resistance method. I was mentored by Dr. Sudhindra Rayaprol and Dr. Shovit Bhattacharya. This work is peer-reviewed.
Elimination of cracks on Pinion Gears
Triveni Gears, Mysuru
Local Gear Manufacturing Industry had cracks found on 90% of pinion gears manufactured. Our project was to reduce the crack formation by constructing a fishbone diagram and adopting a WHY-WHY analysis. Our approach, driven by root cause analysis and multiple tests and studying factors like microstructures, alloy composition, level of banding, mechanical strain was tested in detail using techniques like Ultrasonic testing, dye penetrant, magnetic particle inspection to check for cracks
Implementation of lean manufacturing in an electronic manufacturing unit.
Triphase Technologies Pvt Ltd, Mysuru
Undertook the implementation of Lean Manufacturing in the consumer electronics manufacturing unit in multiple steps:
5s systems in the organization increased operational efficiency and quality control among PCAs. The implementation helped in discovering 15,000 unaccounted PCAs and regulated the flow of PCAs through each step of the manufacturing process.
Statistical Process Control: Implemented the Statistical process control for transformers manufacturing, Surface mount technologies to reduce defect formation. Used this as inputs for process correction. Performed Design failure mode effect analysis for products to avoid catastrophic failures later in the product lifecycle.
Process Control: Defined measurables at each process in a line assembly, collected data, and analyzed it continuously to detect defects in the process and product.
Learning Management System: Designed the learning management system from the ground-up which included designing learning contents, and continuously assessing learners to track progress which in turn helped in understanding improvement of quality control.
